Whether you are a longtime devotee to the cruelty-free, pro-green lifestyle or have recently converted, you won’t be too surprised to learn that Atlanta offers a plethora of dining options dedicated to both vegans and vegetarians alike! Better yet, these options are not limited by the type of fare! From southern soul food and Asian cuisine to good, ol’ fashioned American burgers, these kitchens in the ATL are serving up some of the best vegan and vegetarian eats in Fulton County.
Herban Fix – 565 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30308
Operated by Taiwanese immigrant, Chef Wendy Chang, Herban Fix is a culmination of her many years of hard work in kitchens around the city and dedication to a sustainable lifestyle. Located in Midtown, this vegan restaurant features a selection of Asian-inspired dishes on their menu. Many lunches, brunch, and dinner items are also gluten-free, like the glazed, crispy king oyster mushroom. Other favorites included grilled eggplant topped with vegetable chutney, stuffed lemongrass tofu with baby gai lan, and pan-seared soy fish with organic kale simmered in curry laksa. If you’re looking for a change from the usual vegan fare, this is it. So, what are you waiting for?
Lov’n It Live – 2786 E Point Street, East Point, GA 30344
Located one block from the East Point MARTA station in the downtown area, Lov’n It Live is devoted to serving raw foods and dishes made with ingredients from local farms. Start your meal off right with a collard roll, which includes seasoned cabbage, nutmeat, onions, tomatoes, avocado, and field greens or a stuffed avocado filled with nutmeat, peppers, and pico de gallo. Entrees are plentiful and just as difficult to choose between – check out the mushroom steak, a portobello mushroom that’s sliced and marinated with herbs and spices and served with your choice of side. There’s also plenty of soups, salads, and burger substitutes to get your hungry hands on!
SluttyVegan ATL – 1542 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard SW, Atlanta, GA 30310
The huge success of Slutty Vegan in Atlanta cannot be overstated. Owner, Pinky Cole, founded the vegan burger business in 2018 as a delivery service with people contacting her via Instagram to place orders for her inventive meatless burgers, like the Dancehall Queen, a plant-based patty with sweet jerk plantains, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and special sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun. Cole amassed a large following, eventually leading to a food truck and late-night pop-ups around Atlanta University Center. Three years later, she has three restaurants with a fourth in the works.
